Notions and snapshots that shape our day to day.

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, we thought we would take a moment to give some love to our favorite calligrapher, Elizabeth Porcher Jones.  Elizabeth is SO incredibly talented, a true master of the art of calligraphy.  My friends, we keep her quite busy as her talent is in high demand with Studio R brides.  Her “John Hancock” is seen everywhere from save the dates and invitations, programs and welcome packets, cocktails napkins and linens, and everything in between.  In fact, when it came time for my wedding, I enlisted her from the very beginning to create special stationery for me, too!  We just love, love, love her and couldn’t wait to showcase a few of her special stationery pieces for Studio R.  Much love EPJ!

Don’t be jealous, :) but I am off to Turks and Caicos bright and early tomorrow morning for my best friend’s wedding!  I am over the top excited because this is my first tropical destination wedding, and given the cool weather pouring into Charleston this weekend, I can’t wait for some warm sunshine.  Sweet Mendi is the last of our Charlotte seven to tie the knot, and I was thrilled to get the phone call from her this July that she was engaged.  When they solidified a spot on the beach in beautiful Turks and Caicos, Rachael and I got to work on the perfect invitation to set the tone for their spectacular island affair.  Among many of Mendi’s talents, is her ability to make watercolor magic!  So, I begged her to put her skills to use and draw a scene that reminded her of the place where she would get married.  When the artwork arrived, we took it from there, incorporating ocean colors in the folder and backing layer, a playful modern pattern and a basket weave band.  The result was pure bliss!  Doesn’t it make you want to go?  I can’t wait to share the photos with you from this wedding when I return!  Have a great weekend! – allison

We were thrilled to see our stunning April bride, Lauren, featured on Style Me Pretty yesterday!  Designed by the one and only, A Charleston Bride… the lighting, the flowers, the play on pattern in the linens and stationery, the stunning calligraphy by the super talented Elizabeth Porcher Jones, and the gorgeous bride and groom, everything about this wedding was fabulous. Be sure to check out the full image gallery on the Style Me Pretty link for lots of great shots of Lauren’s stationery, and if you might like Lauren’s save the date or wedding invitation below, give us a call! We would love to create something custom, uniquely for you!

Family affair!

November 24, 2011 in uncategorized

Hello and happy Thanksgiving to our Studio R friends and family.  We could not think of a more perfect holiday post to share with all of you in the midst of a season of being thankful for friends and family.  September 24th, my brother-in-law, Chip married the beautiful and ‘oh so sweet’ Heather (Peebles) Johnston, on the bank of the Kiawah River.  The ceremony took place at my in-laws at eleven in the morning, and the rain held off just long enough to make their vows official… and take a few outdoor snapshots too! Friends and family alike, jumped on board to help with every detail of this very special occasion, and paved the way for a breathtaking celebration.  Cru Cafe prepared a delicious brunch featuring a crepe station, eggs benedict station and more.  (My first “brunch” wedding… and I am really liking this idea!)  Our favorite cousin, Rebekah Harkins made the beautiful wedding cake complete with three irresistible flavors to satisfy every sweet tooth.  Event details were crafted by the uber-talented Hannah Alexander of WED, show stopping photography was delivered by the one and only Josh Drake, and of course Studio R dabbled in the stationery design, to establish the look and feel for this spectacular event.   The day was so special, you could feel all of the love in the air, and I was truly thankful to be a part of their special day.  After a beautiful afternoon reception, Chip and Heather packed their bags and headed off to Europe, for a very special honeymoon!  Below are just a few photos, but to see more visit Josh Drake’s blog

We heart Verde!

November 3, 2011 in uncategorized

Last week, Studio R took a quick break from the custom invitation world to visit this hot new salad focused sensation on King Street, Verde!  Not only were we impressed with the super stylish aesthetic (oh the stripes!), but we were thrilled to see that this little gem belongs to one of Studio R’s past brides, Jennifer Shapiro Ferrebee.  A kind of  ”where are they now” moment surfaced, as it brought to mind so many amazing past clients and wishes of similar success!  Jennifer and her husband recognized a need for a fast approach to health-conscious and taste-conscious foods.  Incorporating fresh ingredients, beautifully prepared proteins and specialty dressings; taking your King Street salad experience to a whole new level.   Lytle, Julia and Rachael chose a signature salad and I opted for a “build your own”.  We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and can’t wait to go back for more!  I took a few snippets of the crew enjoying their salads, and the new space too!  If you find yourself wondering down King Street, and looking for a healthy lunch or dinner option, visit 347 King Street!  No doubt, you will be as satisfied as we were with our experience.

This soda machine I am still getting use to!

So fresh!

Even though their wedding was just a few weeks ago, we could not wait to share these photos with you as soon as we received them from their fabulous photographer, Josh Drake!  Josh captured perfectly, so many Studio R details of Kiften and Will’s wedding that we were thrilled when he specifically shared with us some of our favorites. Coupled with Kiften and Will’s amazing wedding planner, Hannah Alexander of WED, Josh’s spot on eye, and Studio R’s paper accents the stage was set  for theperfect Lowcountry fall wedding.

Announcing…

September 13, 2011 in uncategorized

We are thrilled to debut our new website and logo! This site showcases a large collection of our save the dates and invitation sets, that offers easy viewing. We are particularly giddy about the new lookbook feature in the “day of” section.  We were able to collaborate with our favorite photographers to include event shots of our “day of” stationery and include them for your viewing pleasure.  It is exciting to see simple reception signage come to life amongst the wedding decor. There is also a “celebrations” section worth noting, as it features our baby + child, holiday and other festive occasions worthy of an invitation. We can’t wait to hear what you think of the new site!
